Summary: In hydrographic systems that comply with Horton's laws, it is possible to use the runoff reduction method, which consists of using the regularities of the decrease in runoff value in geometric progression with decreasing stream order for the determination of water resources in small catchments. This method enables the estimation of total runoff for medium subordinate catchments within each order. In this paper, an attempt is made to compare runoff values, estimated using the method of simultaneous reduction of area and runoff from selected catchments, with networks ordered using Horton and Drwal methods. Three catchments were selected for detailed analysis: Słupia (at Charnowo), Łupawa (at Smołdzino) and Łeba (at Miłoszewo). The reduction method can be used to determine the water resources of uncontrolled catchments but a certain amount of caution has to be exercised in the choice of hydrological information. In the absence of measured data, the reduction method can be recommended as such, which enables the estimation of runoff values in small uncontrolled catchments, assuming that the networks of interest are ordered using Drwal's method.
