Hydrological characteristics of snow cover in the Western Tatra Mountains in winters 1987-2008

Holko L., 2008, Hydrological characteristics of snow cover in the Western Tatra Mountains in winters 1987-2008, Folia Geographica ser. Geographica-Physica, vol. XXXIX (39): 63-77.

Keywords: snow depth, snow water equivalent, snow density, mountains

Summary: The paper presents the results of the long-term snow courses measurements of snow depth (SD), density (?) and water equivalents (SWE) in the Jalovecký Creek catchment, the Western Tatra Mountains in winters 1987-2008. The measurements performed at snow courses at altitudes from 750 to 1900 m a.s.l. were analysed Seasonal evolution of snow characteristics, altitude gradients, relationships between the forest and open area and extreme values of SD and SWE increase/decrease are described in the paper.
