Education Background

2007: PhD in the Earth Science within the Geography, Institute of Geography and Spatial Management, Faculty of Biology and Earth Science, Jagiellonian University, Krakow (Poland)

2004: MSc in Nuclear Physics, Institute of Physics, Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science, Jagiellonian University, Krakow (Poland)

2002: MSc in Physical Geography within the Natural and Mathematical Studies, Institute of Geography and Spatial Management, Faculty of Biology and Earth Science, Jagiellonian University, Krakow (Poland)

Research Interests

My research focuses on a better understanding of coupled human – environmental systems. I am particularly interested in use of geographic information science and technology (GIS&T) in environmental studies with spatial emphasis on remote sensing change detection and image processing, and mathematical and statistical modeling. I specialize in land use and land cover change detection and modeling with strong focus on mountain environments, in particular the Carpathians, but also on biodiversity assessment, especially in the context of habitat and landscape fragmentation and connectivity analysis and modeling. I am also interested in GIS&T education and e-learning.

Personal Interests

I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends. I like to travel and explore new environments and cultures, mountains in particular.
